What’s Standing Between You and Your Dream of Becoming a Doctor?

Becoming a doctor in Canada is more competitive than ever. These are some of the challenges standing between qualified students and their dreams.

Limited Seats in Canada

Medical school seats in Canada are limited. Each year, over 80% of applicants are not admitted, leaving thousands of qualified students without a path forward.

Cost of Going Abroad

For many Canadians, the biggest question is cost. Tuition, living expenses, and travel make studying medicine abroad feel out of reach, even for highly motivated students.

Studying Far From Home

Being far from home can feel daunting. Students often worry about support, safety, and adapting to life in a new country while in medical school.

Returning to Practice in Canada

Students often worry whether an international MD will truly prepare them for licensing exams and residency pathways back in Canada. Choose a school where that answer is clear.

Why Choose Trinity?

Trinity School of Medicine offers many benefits that other schools simply can’t match.

Practice in the U.S. and Canada

Trinity’s accreditation by CAAM-HP enables our graduates to participate in the residency match processes in the United States and Canada, as well as apply for residencies and licensure in both countries.

Term 5 includes hands-on clinical skills workshops and a comprehensive 7-week program designed specifically to equip students for success in the USMLE Step 1 exam.

Fastest Timelines in the Caribbean

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is St. Vincent and the Grenadines?

Southeast of the British Virgin Islands, north of Grenada. St. Vincent and the Grenadines is in the Lesser Antilles Island arc, in the southern portion of the Windward Islands, which lie at the southern end of the eastern border of the Caribbean Sea where the latter meets the Atlantic Ocean.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines is a hidden gem of the Caribbean, taking the number one spot in 2021’s “Top 25 Islands in the Caribbean, Bermuda, and the Bahamas” survey, part of the World’s Best Travel Awards program by Travel + Leisure magazine. The archipelago of 32 islands outranked places such as Bermuda, Turks and Caicos, Aruba, Barbados, and the British Virgin Islands, to name a few.

How long do students live on the island?

Students in Trinity’s MD Program spend their first 4 terms (16 months) at our Basic Science Campus on St. Vincent in the Carribbean. As with most medical schools, Trinity students enjoy breaks between terms, during which they can explore the islands or travel home to visit family and friends.

Is Trinity accredited?

Yes! Trinity is an accredited Caribbean medical school. Accreddited by CAAM-HP, the primary accrediting authority for Caribbean medical schools, enables our graduates to participate in the residency match processes in the United States and Canada, as well as apply for residencies and licensure in both countries.

Do I have to schedule my own rotations?

All rotations are scheduled by a Trinity clerkship administrator. Students rotate with a low preceptor-to-student ratio and can complete their full 48 weeks of core rotations in one location at our affiliated hospitals and clinics – no moving around from city to city, no waiting for rotations slots to open, and no gaps between rotations.

Can I match if I graduate from Trinity?

Contrary to internet myths, students who graduate from Caribbean medical schools do match in a wide range of specialties. Trinity students, for example, have a cumulative residency placement rate of 96%, with many graduates advancing to become chief residents within their programs.

Can I practice in Canada?

Yes. Trinity has students in residency and/or practicing in provinces across Canada. Trinity is recognized by the government of Canada as a Designated Educational Institution and students can obtain Canadian Student Loans (federal and provincial) to cover the cost of tuition.

Can I speak to an alum?

Yes! We frequently host “From an Insider” webinars where we have an alum as a guest. This is a great way to ask questions and have them answered live in a group setting. If you prefer a one-on-one conversation, just reach out to admissions and they will connect you with a graduate.
